Week 3 in the Books
Well, another week down. That how's it goes, one week at a time, and before I know it, it will be November 19th! Only 10 weeks until my first race--St. George 70.3 (Half Ironman)
Monday: rest day
Tuesday: 3,100 yard swim and a 40 minute "really easy" run. I love that my coaches notes here say the following: "easy run that you could breathe entirely through your nose only. Should feel barely harder than a brisk walk. Super relaxed run that reminds you how much you like to run!" Apparently she didn't get the memo. I've never, ever liked to run! lol.
Wend: 1:15 minute bike. I did this on my trainer. I managed to even get on and get it done before work, which is almost unheard of for me. It seems impossible for me to get up and ride the trainer before work. Spin class (and sometimes swimming), I can usually get up early for. But running and trainer rides for some reason are 10 times harder.
Thursday: This became the epic of epic days. So I was supposed to swim for 45 minutes, run for an hour, and bike for an hour. BUT the bike workout was pretty detailed, and I always go to my favorite spin class at the gym on Thursday mornings. And I had physical therapy. So the day ended up looking like this:
4:35 am: Wakeup, change from PJs to spin clothes
5:00-6am: Spin class, change from spin clothes to swim suit
6:15-7:15: Swim, change from swim suit to PT clothes
8-9am: Physical Therapy
9am: rush to work, change from PT clothes to work clothes
noon: run "on my lunch break", change into running clothes and then back into work clothes
1-6:30pm: work
7:15: get home, change from work clothes to spin clothes, get on the trainer for an hour
8:15: get off trainer, shove whatever food I can find in my mouth, change into PJs, go to bed.
Friday: 1 hour swim. I managed to get up early for this one and get it done before work! Wohoo! Friday night involved dinner out with friends, but I didn't last too late. Was home by 10:30 or 11. Oh, I did my Thursday and Friday swims at 24 hour fitness. I was hoping maybe I could join for a couple months because it's much closer to my home. However, there pool is awful! The chlorine is SO high. I seriously had dry mouth within the first few minutes, and it was awful.
Saturday: The plan was for a 2:30 bike ride, followed by a 10 minute brick run. The bike had some race paced intervals. I had originally planned to go to Lookout with some friends. But plans fell through because I was running late after not being able to find my leg warmers. I won't go into details here, but I was actually pretty upset about how the whole thing went down. There wasn't any point in crying over things I couldn't change though (ok, maybe I cried a little), but I got on and endured the 2:30 minute trainer ride. Got off and went just outside in my apartment complex for a brick run, where I literally almost got ran over by a guy in a stolen car (I called 911 when he tore through the apartment complex, and then left his car running in the middle of the road. Kinda scary!) I also tried my new skratch cookie mix, and it was delicious. Basically you take a package of their cookie mix, a stick of butter, and an egg and then add in whatever mixins you want (I did 1/2 of them with blueberry and chocolate chips, and then the other half with peanut butter chips), and then wrap them up in paper to take with you on the bike. Since I ended up riding inside, the paper was kind of overkill, lol. But they were delicious!
Sunday: Sunday was supposed to be a 1:10 easy run. But I group I know was going outside, and I just couldn't resist getting outside on the bike. So I made an executive decision (sorry coach), to push my run to Monday, and to go out on a ride instead. I'm sure she won't be super happy with me. The ride was ROUGH though. I think all the training is making me tired (shocking, right?), and I didn't eat/fuel enough. I was out for about 4 hours, and all I had was a gu packet and one other small snack, and maybe .75 bottles of skratch and .5 bottle of water. Wasn't the best, but I just wasn't feeling the need to eat and drink. Not to mention that it was super windy. I got dropped by the pack and was battling the wind by myself. I eventually just gave up. Not like me, but I was sick of just battling the wind and being alone out there. So I turned around, and battled the wind to get home too. I guess some days you don't just have it. Though I was mad and pissed and might have cried a few tears out of frustration that day.
Monday: Was supposed to be an off day, but I had a run to make up, so I laced up and went out. I did, however, turn down a option to go ride lookout, so I was glad that I at least did some resting ;)
This week:
Tuesday: 30 minute easy run, 40 minute swim
Wend: off
Thur: 1 hour easy bike
Fri: 50 minute swim
Sat: 2:20 bike, 20 min run
Sun: 1:15 run.
Weather isn't looking great for outdoor biking this weekend, so guessing its gonna be some indoor riding. This looks like a much easier week in comparison. Hopefully I'll come to appreciate that :)
Not gonna lie, felt a little like this during the week.
It says "You can do it." -Coffee. There was no shortage of coffee this week.

Three sports, PT, and a job require a lot of gear!
24 hour fitness pool in Lowry. Too bad they totally ruin this pool with entirely too much chlorine!!

Skratch cookies. Next time I'll take a pic of the actual cookie for you!

Went out on the trail for my long (1:10 min run). Weather here has been fantastic. Was in the 70s this weekend.
