Way Too Long Since I've updated

Sorry, friends, it's been WAY too long since I've been on here.  And rather than bore you with day-to-day training schedules (and because I can't remember it all), I think a highlight reel is more in order.  I promise now that I've moved and stopped traveling for work, I'll get back to normal!

So as soon as I got back from St. George, I left again for a 24 hourish work trip to St. Louis to give a client presentation.  I didn't actually have to work out while I was there, but I came back and ran around my apartment that evening to do a Ragnar around the moon challenge.  Apparently, I also became Jesus, because here is my strava map:

It was a dark and lonely 7 miles to complete the virtual challenge, and I don't think I've ever been SO wet running.

Then, I stayed home a whole like 4 days before I had to go out of town for a work trip to Miami.  I know rough life... Miami meant a whole lot of running near the ocean, which I love! Also a lot of late nights and bad food.... and one day coach even made me ride the stationary bike in the hotel gym.  NOT my favorite.  Lol.

Keary cat was also not a big fan of all my traveling this month.  Poor girl.

As soon as I got back from Miami, it was more personal craziness, this time in the form of a move!  I had been living east of downtown Denver, and commuting to work like 35 minutes each way (unless it was high traffic times, then even more!).  I had originally moved out there to be close to my gym, but now that I'm tri-training, I don't go to the gym very much.  So it was time to re-consider where to live.  I found an apartment downtown, just three blocks from work, that wasn't a ton more expensive, so I decided to go for it.  Of course that meant a long week or so of packing...

what do you mean you don't set up your bike first?

Because I'm crazy, instead of staying home to unpack (who would want to do that?!), I went and did a swim and a long bike ride on Sunday, and then ran the Bolder Boulder on Monday of memorial day weekend.  BB was a blast!  It's a 10k "race".  It had been on my bucket list for years, but I had never gotten to it.  We "ran" it and by running I mean we stopped and chugged beers, we slipped and slided, hopped on trampolines, and drank beer on a swing!!  It was a BLAST!

So then the following weekend, it was time to race again, this time a sprint tri!   I won't say it was fun (sprint tri's hurt!), but I came away with a win in the Athena division by about 10 minutes, and would have placed third in my age group!

Trianimal friends!
After the race, I had to ride for 2 hours on my trainer.  Not my favorite, but I got it done! The next day had a double run (run for 1:10 in the morning, then wait at least 2 hours and run another hour).
That more or less catches up to this week.... which was:
Monday: 3,000 yard swim
Tuesday: 1 hour bike, 30 min brick run
Wend: run test, swim test
Thur: 1:30 bike
Fri: 40 min run, 50 min swim
Saturday: 4 hour bike
Sunday: Garden of Gods 10 miler race.

Beginning of the week went well.  I went and saw Mike Reilly speak on Thursday night.  He signed a little mini sized poster for me that says "Courtney, you will be an IRONMAN.  See you in Arizona."  I'm gonna have to find a special place for that in my house.

Friday was a fun one.  I procrastinated all day swimming, and it was HOT out.  So I decided that I would "reward" myself since I had to swim after running, with an outdoor swim. Found a pool that would give me a day pass, and drove across town in the traffic to get there.  Got my run in, and then about 20 minutes into my swim, some kid barfed in the pool and they had to clean it.  Really?  So they closed the pool.  But I was only about 1/2 way into my swim.  So I decided to drive the 2 miles to an indoor pool I used to swim at alot, and finish my workout.  But I knew if I took my cap and goggles off it would be over.  So I drove over to the other pool in my cap and googles.  I'm sure the other drivers thought I was nuts.  Maybe I am...lol....

Saturday met up with some friends at Aurora Res to do an open water swim followed by my 4 hour bike. It was SO hot, I thought I was going to die.  But I made it threw, grabbed lunch with Frank to exchange his bike ticket for IM Boulder the next day, and then drove down to Colorado Springs.  I met up with a friend for drinks, and then hung out with Carley, so we could run the garden of the gods 10 miler the next morning.

So I knew this was kind of a hilly course, I didn't know it was going to be as hilly.  We used some quality fuel before the race (don't worry, we also had oatmeal).
I had a goal to finish in under 2 hours.  Remember that part about it being hilly?!  And I finished in about 1:54, so I was happy with that.  So Hilly.  So what do you do after a 10 mile hilly run race? Well, first you have a slice of pizza.  But then you book it up to Boulder to cheer on your friends while they do IM Boulder!  Frank was racing (along with a few other trianimals).  And no way was I missing that.  So we walked, and we walked and we walked, and then we walked some more.  I seriously got in like 40k steps yesterday.  So sore, but so worth it!

Frank did fantastic, as did our other friends!  This weekend was exhausting for sure.  BUT I'm so glad to have found this group of AWESOMELY fantastic wonderful people.  From training with a few on Saturday, to watching the love on the course yesterday, it's all such a blessing.  I don't want to get too emotional, but in MANY many ways, this is a lonely sport.  There are hours on a trainer in your living room, and what seems like decades alone on a run in training.  It's super fantastic when you have a group of friends who are there to push you, and cheer you on, whether it's just race day or in training too.  I can't wait to compete with more of them this summer!!

Let's see a few other pics from the last month or so, in no particular order:
Sarah's first open water swim!

I bought a new wetsuit! So much faster!!

Who doesn't want to be on their bike at 4:21am?!

morning run around the lake before the movers came!
