Week 10!

Week 10....

This week was a doozie. 15:33 of training, plus an out of town trip that created 2 recovery days!

Week looked like this:

Monday: off
Tuesday: 1:05 run, 1 hour swim
Wend: 1:15 ride, 1 hour swim
Thur: Off for travel
Friday: 1 hour run (was supposed to also swim, but was dragging and didn't get to the pool in time)
Sat: 4:45 ride, 30 min run
Sunday: 1:40 run, 1 hour swim (make up from Friday), 1:30 bike (indoors because of wind) and a 5k I did with My Team Triumph...

The week started off pretty uneventful... Got the training in without any incident.

Thursday and Friday I went to South Bend, IN for a work trip, home of Notre Dame!  Basically was there to recruit kids to come to my law firm. It meant, though, that I got to get a quick run in around the lakes, which was awesome!  I wish I had been more into being active when I was at ND... running around the lakes now is always so special for me!  Added bonus was I got to come back to my hotel and have some "recovery" peanut butter pie from dinner the night before.  Yum! Checked out a fantastic new restaurant Thursday night and they had the best food and desserts!

Got back on Friday evening, and to say I was tired would be an understatement.  I got to bed pretty early though, so that I could get up and get out on Saturday.  I ended up driving up to Boulder and riding the Boulder Ironman course twice (it's about a 34 mile loop or so).  It's pretty, but OMG the winds. They were awful on Saturday.  I took this baby out for a ride though.  We went about 75 miles, my longest ride on her to date.  I've discovered that I'm going to need a lot more practice time in aero position, but Saturday was not the day to do it, and the wind was just too strong most of the time!

After my ride, and a quick 30 minute run (quick in the sense of time, not quick in my pace... at all... awful)...I met this guy for some beer!  He was riding the same area that I was but had a shorter day.  He reluctantly (ha!) waited for me at one of our favorite breweries and we enjoyed a pint.  I slammed a BBQ sandwich and about 6 glasses of water too!
 Delicious nectar of the Gods!
After we polished off beer, we went back and ordered Chinese food for dinner! So good!! Then I quickly went home and went to bed, because I knew Sunday was going to be an even longer day!!

Sunday:  6:30am--alarm goes off, I hit snooze a couple times
7:15 am-- out the door, stop at Starbucks who somehow lost my mobile order... really?
8:10am-- arrive at the My Team Triumph 5k.  I had agreed to help My Team Triumph for a 5K race to fill in for an Angel (volunteer pusher) who couldn't make it due to a family emergency.
9:00am I teamed up with two other people to get Zac to the finish line! Was a very fun morning.  No crazy pacing, but was just for fun to be out there and help the kids have fun! Plus we got a little bling! Never a bad thing :)

 Zac and the team!
10:30am After the 5k was over, I went over to my friend Sarah's house and we went out for our long run together!  Got 1:35 minutes in, 7.3 total miles.  Given the 5k in the morning, I'm calling it good! :)

12:30  Cram a panera salad down my throat.  The chicken and fruit poppyseed one is back.  Yea!

1:30:  Who wants to do an hour swim? Uh, no me.  But I did!  3,300 yards...

3:00 arrive home.  Think about riding outside, but realize that a) it's still super windy, and b) outside ride time is 2-3.5 hours, whereas coach gave me an alternative workout for indoors for 1.5 hours.  It's 3pm on a Sunday.  What would you pick? Sit down on couch (big mistake!).  Cart bike back up stairs and put on trainer.  Decide I need to change cleats on my bike shoes immediately.  Eat a banana.  Watch an episode of Next Great Baker and convince myself that I will get off the couch at the end and get on the bike.

4:15 finally get up and get dressed.  Forget my heart rate strap in the car, so go down to get that. Forget about a million other things I need to get on the bike.

4:30 finally get on the bike/zwift and get moving only to find chain is rubbing a ton.  Try to adjust, but never seem to get it right.  Finish my 1:30 ride anyways.  The bike shop guys are going to hate me.

6:10:  finish bike ride.  Shove face with food, shower, and fly out the door to Mass.
8:00 pick up Pho and eat in massive amounts.  Think maybe you should clean up apartment that looks like the police conducted a drug search in it.  Decide that's what rest day is for, right?
8:30: get in bed, saying I'll watch some shows on my ipad before I really fall asleep.  I think I was out about 5 minutes later.  Wake up at 12am and watch about an hour worth of TV and fall back asleep.

So ladies and gents, that is how you literally spend THE ENTIRE WEEKEND working out.  Yep.  And the calorie burns and tan lines to prove it!  Sunday ended up with a total of 5,279 calories burned!

Week 11 looks like this:
Monday: off!
Tuesday: 1 hour swim, 30 min run
Wend: 50 min recovery spin
Thur: 1 hour swim, 1 hour run
Friday: Off!
Sat: 1 hour swim, 3 hour bike
Sun: 3;30 bike, 45 min brick run

Isn't it amazing how 12:35  of training for week 11 seems like it's an easy week now?!  And two recovery days.... wow!
